CHALLENGE
We have all seen those ultra-cool skiing ads with the over-the-top beautiful photography highlighting some ridiculously hot skier blowing over the top of a cornice. As a skier, it is compelling...but as an advertiser, it just plain sucks. It’s been done a couple bazillion times and even though it’s beautiful, it blends right in with all your competitors. In a word... "unmemorable."
CREATIVE SOLUTION
I felt compelled to take a 180 degree turn. In the Don Bordeaux campaign, I created a breakthrough character who acted as a figurehead for the resort. Don had a look and a voice that could not go unnoticed. People heard him loud and clear...and they loved him for it.
When introducing a character like Don Bordeaux, people cannot help but stand back and take notice. He has a certain way of grabbing you by the collar and commanding your attention. He's just too weird not to take notice...weird in this case...is very, very good.
